Kyoto Experiment (KEX) is an international performing arts festival held in venues in and around Kyoto City in Japan. It usually takes place annually throughout the entire month of October. The festival hub is the Kyoto Art Centre, a former Junior High School reworked into a multi-space performance venue.

Although the roots of the festival go back to the early noughties, its current format began in 2010. There are a number of artists and companies that have appeared regularly at the event, and the festival works on long-term collaborations in many cases.

KEX has also premiered some influential performance works from Japan and overseas and has earned a reputation worldwide as a leading space for new work. In addition to its main theatre and dace program, KEX offers talks and workshops, as well as a fringe program.
